Home Support Program: Comfort and practical support through visiting volunteers
Benefits include:
- initial visit by a community nurse for assessment and referral
- volunteer visiting for companionship and practical support
- respite for families up to 4 hours/week
- telephone support
- caregiver support
Day Hospice Program: If an person is still able to get out of the home and can transfer with minimal assistance, the Day Hospice program can provide a day away for them and a break for the caregiver * offered Wed or Thu 10am-2pm
Benefits include:
- weekly social interaction with peers
- variety of activities may include art, cards, board games, music, reiki or massage
- emotional support
- respite for caregivers
- weekly nurse assessments and communication with physicians as needed
Hospice Residential Care Program: When being at home is no longer possible Hospice Care Ottawa provides 24 hour residential care
Family Support Program: Helps family members and friends care for someone diagnosed with a life-threatening illness * bereavement follow-up available * individual basis or in group settings for adults, youth and children
Bereavement Support: Support through the grieving process by staff and trained volunteers
Programs include:
- drop-in groups
- partner/spousal support groups
- retreats
- group walks
- counselling
- information and referral
