Eligibility / Target Population

Any person living at home or in a retirement home setting in the City of Ottawa, who has a confirmed diagnosis of irreversible dementia, and is able to participate in a 6-hour program * the person cannot be at risk to harm clients, volunteers or staff * paratranspo not recommended unless they can independently find the day program

Fees

$25 per day * $16 for transportation

Description of Services:

Adult day program * program structure is flexible and activities are tailored to the client's functional ability and interests

Social time: day typically begins with a snack and conversation about life experiences, current events and any topic of specific interest to the clients * birthdays and special holidays are celebrated

Activities: * cards * billiards * board games * crafts * baking * music * word games and trivia * singalong

Physical movement: exercise program is part of the day's activities * includes warm-up, stretching, mild cardiovascular activity and cool down

Meals: hot meal is provided

Transportation available within residency requirement
