Individuals can phone directly or they can be referred by family, friends or another professional * Referrals for placement services are accepted from institutions, agencies, physicians, hospitals, individuals in the community * Professional staff visit, counsel and assess referred persons and determine if they meet the eligibility criteria for placement/admission to a long-term care facility
Fees
Placement is free * The basic accommodations rates are set by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and some subsidies are available * a cost for long-term or respite care in a long-term care facility bed and a cost for a complex continuing care
